A tribute to the Arab Spring

*NOTE* I want to the apologize for the lack of posts on the blog but I've been busy lately. Inshallah I hope to post more often in the coming weeks.

This is a tribute to the brave people of the Arab world who against the worst kind of brutality and inhumanity continue to struggle for freedom and a better life. For those who risk their lives to protest peacefully in the streets of Damascus and Tehran, for those who are dying to protect the innocent in Misrata. You struggle doesn't go unnoticed, you are in our prayers and and you martyrs inspire us. May Allah grant you mercy, victory and better prospects in this life and in the next.

As for the dictators that you struggle against the true extent of their mercilessness is becoming apparent with the martyrdom and mutilation of young Hamza al Katib and others in Syria and the gang rape of Iman al-Obeidi by Gaddafi's soilders and the policy of rape being perused by the failing Gaddafi regime. These kinds of horrors will not prevent the inevitable, the people will be successful Inshallah, the dictators of these lands will face the same end as Saddam Hussien.

This is a video that I've put together as a tribute to the Arab spring, the speaker is Shaykh Hamza Yusuf and though that speech I believe is from the early 90's it fits perfectly with the situation now unfolding in the middle east.  Remember the brave mujahids of Syria, Bahrain, Iran and Libya in your prayers and we hope and pray for victory and peace.

Hello -

Thank you for a beautiful article. The reason I'm writing is to ask your permission to use the image at the beginning of this article in a documentary style video that I'm preparing in honour of the Arab Spring. I composed a chamber symphony that is dedicated to those who died in it and your image would be perfect to open the series of videos with. If you agree you would be listed (if you so desire) in the credits as one of the contributing artists - please let me know how you would like to be listed (and, of course, whether I have your permission to use the image).

No money shall be made from this project - it will be uploaded to uTube for free access to anyone - it is not to be used to generate funds in anyway.

Thanks, to contact me, please write to (a)crazy composer [that's all one word, including the "a") at (@) Yahoo - Dot - "ca" ... hope that isn't too confusing. :-)

I look forward to hearing from you,
-p
